Installation Best Practices
* Always install SS in different drive.
* Don't install in domain controller
* Don't install reporting, analysis etc i.e which are not required.
* For edition change i.e standard to enterprise run the setup from command prompt as follows.
d:\sql2008\setup SKUUPGRADE=1
when it prompt for instance name provide the existing name.
* We can install and configure only the following editions of SS in production box
* Enterprise edition
* Standard ,,
* Workgroup ,,
* Document the installation process clearly.
* We can install SS from command prompt using configuration.ini file also which avoids to go through one by one step of GUI wizard and presence of DBA at the time of installation.
